MILWAUKEE -- SkyWest Airlines on Thursday, Jan. 11 became the new owner of a large hangar complex near General Mitchell International Airport.SkyWest bought the double hangar, which is nearly 200,000 square feet.

RACINE COUNTY -- Crews began work Wednesday, Jan. 10 on the reconstruction of a Frontage Road off I-94 in Racine County, with road closures put into place.The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has placed ads requesting bids to complete resurfacing work on WIS 20.

WAUKESHA COUNTY -- All lanes are now clear after a multi-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon, December 30th closed all lanes of I-41 northbound at 124th Street -- near Menomonee Falls.The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reported this crash around 11:00 a.m.Waukesha County Sheriff's Department said six vehicles were involved in the crash.

SkyWest flight diverted to Milwaukee airport over possible mechanical issues

MILWAUKEE -- A spokesman with Mitchell International Airport told FOX6 News Thursday morning, December 28th that a SkyWest flight from Iowa to Michigan was diverted to Milwaukee's airport due to a possible mechanical issue.The SkyWest Airlines Flight (4699) was headed to Detroit from Cedar Rapids.The plane was able to land safely -- and crews are checking out the aircraft to make sure there aren't any issues.

Truck spills fuel after crash on I-43/94 SB at Howard, prompting delays

MILWAUKEE -- A truck spilled fuel after a crash on I-43/94 SB at Howard Monday night, December 18th.Officials with the Milwaukee Fire Department said a hazmat crew was dispatched to the scene, and a private ambulance was called in.It's unclear how many people were transported, and the extent of injuries suffered.The cause of the crash is under investigation.

OAK CREEK -- A semi fire on Sunday evening, December 10th shut down all lanes of I-41/94 SB at Ryan Road.Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the fire happened near Oakwood, at the Racine County line.It happened around 7:00 p.m., and WisDOT officials estimated the closure would last for two hours.The following detour route is in place: All traffic exits at Drexel Ave.

Keep your eyes to the skies: Airbus tests A350-1000 from Mitchell International Airport

MILWAUKEE -- If you're anywhere near Mitchell International Airport this week, keep your eyes peeled for a passenger jet that is typically not seen in these parts.An Airbus A350-1000 is in town for some cold weather engine testing.Photos courtesy of Dan Grimm.A little more than a year ago, Airbus sent an A380 to Mitchell for two weeks of icing tests on a jet engine that would eventually power the A350-1000.Airport officials last year said the Airbus would be flying frequently during its Milwaukee visit.

DOT closes Ryan Road Park and Ride until fall so crews can reconstruct bridge

American Airlines, pilots reach deal to avoid canceling flights

NEW YORK — American Airlines has reached an agreement with its pilots' union to avoid canceling thousands of flights during the holiday season.A scheduling glitch had left thousands of flights without a captain, co-pilot or both between Dec. 17 and Dec. 31 at dozens of airports.
