Business Journal: Second Amazon distribution center planned for Kenosha
KENOSHA (WITI) -- FOX6's media partners at the Milwaukee Business Journal are reporting Amazon's project in Kenosha is getting bigger.Back in November, The Business Journal reported Amazon.com's planned one-million-square-foot Kenosha distribution center is a go.With that project, Amazon is expected to create 1,000 jobs in the distribution center, planned for a 101-acre site east of I-94 near 122nd Street.Now, The Business Journal is reporting Amazon.com is moving forward with a second distribution center in Kenosha that would create 575 full-time jobs in addition to the 1,100 jobs in an initial building that is under construction.The new $62 million building would go up next to the initial Kenosha Amazon distribution center.The Business Journal says the buildings would be connected with a skywalk.The first building, which received a $17 million TIF grant, is planned for completion in October 2014.A Joint Review Board with representatives of the local taxing districts in Kenosha will consider the request for a second distribution center during a meeting on Wednesday, December 18th.

Amazon hiring 7,000 workers
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Amazon announced plans Monday to hire 7,000 workers for its U.S. operation, with most jobs offering pay and benefits far above typical retail wages, the company said.Amazon did not give specific pay scales for the positions, but said the 5,000 warehouse jobs will pay 30% more than jobs in traditional retail stores.The jobs are full-time permanent positions and also include stock grants that, over the last five years, have averaged 9% of pay for Amazon's full-time workers.
Apple found to have conspired to raise e-book prices
