Six Marquette fraternities placed on probation

MILWAUKEE -- Six Marquette University fraternities have been placed on probation as of February 16th through Fall of 2012 for alcohol-related violations.Marquette University said in a statement Monday the frats violated their own organizational policies, as well as those of the university and the interfraternity council, but would not give specifics on the violations.Marquette University says probation is a formal notice to an organization that its behavior is unacceptable within the university community, and if continued, more severe action may be taken.The organizations have not been suspended, and have the right to appeal the probation.

New accusations surface against former UW Athletic Director

MADISON (AP) -- University of Wisconsin police have opened an investigation into new allegations against a former athletic official accused of trying to fondle a male student at a pre-Rose Bowl party.Chancellor David Ward issued a statement Monday saying campus police have been investigating the new claims involving former associate athletic director John Chadima since Jan. 30.Ward did not specify what Chadima is accused of, saying only that the case involves an adult male and campus police will continue to investigate "all allegations of sexual impropriety or abuse of power brought to their attention."Ward said the man doesn't want to press charges but police found his story to be credible and are collaborating with Dane County prosecutors.

11 people arrested outside Milwaukee's Madison H.S.

MILWAUKEE --Milwaukee police arrested 11 people after multiple fights broke out at Madison High School at 81st and Florist Friday afternoon.Police say the fights broke out inside the school and officers on the scene called for help.One officer was kicked in the face by an 18-year-old female student, after which police deployed an electronic control device to stop the threat.Eight people were arrested for disorderly conduct; three for resisting/obstructing an officer.Two police officers were hurt but did not require medical treatment.Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett issued the following statement in relation to the fights at Madison High School:“Today’s violent incident at Madison High School and yesterday’s after school fight at Washington High School are inexcusable.
