“We get the chance to shine:” Three Lions Pub to score large crowd for Women’s World Cup

SHOREWOOD -- The U.S. is playing in the first round of the FIFA Women's World Cup on Friday, June 12th. Three Lions Pub in Shorewood is a soccer bar where interest in this sport has been growing and growing these last few years.

The owners of Three Lions Pub expect shoulder-to-shoulder crowds by 7 p.m. when the game kicks off.

"There's been a great following so far and a lot of excitement. The support for this sport in the area has just come up tenfold from what it was ten years ago," said David Price, Owner of Three Lions Pub.

Now the pub, and its British owners are hoping for similar interest in the Women's World Cup already underway.

"It's looking like the USA really having a good chance of winning this," said Price.

Turnout was strong at Three Lions PUb for the USA's first victory over Australia on Monday, June 8th.

Tonight, the team plays Sweden at 7 p.m. The pub is expecting a large Friday night crowd -- it already has a half dozen reservations.

"It's fantastic for us because we get the chance to shine and really share the support we love with the city," said Price.

The owner of Three Lions Pub FOX6 News spoke with came to the U.S. from England to play soccer for Cardinal Stritch and stuck around. He says he's never seen interest in the Women's World Cup here in the U.S. like he's seen so far this year. He says interest in watching the sport has just been skyrocketing.
