"I'm hoping you guys get a kick out of it:" Packers players talk about their role in "Pitch Perfect 2"

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- It's hard to keep up with what the Green Bay Packers do in their spare time -- especially if they don't want you to know, but the news is now out: Five Packers players are in the upcoming movie “Pitch Perfect 2,” set to be released this summer.

"It's all natural. You`ll see in summer 2015," Packers LB Clay Matthews said.

"It was interesting. It was definitely different but you know, it was a cool experience," Packers Left Guard Josh Sitton said.

"All these guys, they`ll kinda shake their head but they were smiles the whole time," Packers Left Tackle David Bakhtiari said.

"Obviously most of us being offensive linemen -- we don`t get exposure like that very often," Packers Right Guard T.J. Lang said.

Clay Matthews, David Bakhtiari, T.J. Lang, Josh Sitton and David Barclay are taking Green Bay to Hollywood. The guys have a role in the new "Pitch Perfect" move coming out this summer.

It all started with a simple tweet on Twitter.

"As a fan of the original 'Pitch Perfect' movie David and his affinity for social media -- reaching out to other people with weird direct messages and replies, was somehow able to get in touch with the right people and an opportunity like that so I thank him for his creepiness -- but yeah he had to do a lot of, you know, a lot of lobbying," Matthews said.

"There was a lot of determination by David to set that whole thing up. Determination/desperation. Shockingly they actually let us in after all those desperate tweets and phone calls and emails," Lang said.

"It was a lot of hard work and coordination between me and Max Hamilton and Elizabeth as well so we were able to orchestrate the whole thing. It was pretty awesome and I`m really proud of how it was able to come through," Bakhtiari said.

Back in June, at the conclusion of OTAs, the players/actors packed their bags and flew to Louisiana for a secret filming session.

"We were there for four days -- Sunday to Thursday and you know, those were full days man. We were there  working from 10 in the morning until, you know, 1 in the morning the next day," Lang said.

"It was great being together with the o linemen for that many days down there working on this project," Matthews said.

While some of the guys may already have some acting experience, this adventure was something totally different.

"T.J.`s got the best voice in general on the team, so if we were to sing then I would say him," Sitton said.

"He tells me all the time. I don`t know if he`s just joking with me or if it`s an actual genuine statement," Lang said.

"I think we sound like professionals so with all the instruments and everything, it should be fun and funny to see and I'm hoping you guys get a kick out of it," Matthews said.

"Universal and the NFL were so happy they wanted to let people know, especially in the football season," Bakhtiari said.

"Pitch Perfect 2" hits theaters May 15th. None of the Packers in the film have actually seen the movie yet, but they say they're pleased with the small slice they've watched so far.
