Wedding gowns given to military brides for free

WALES (WITI) -- Finding the perfect dress is one of the most important parts of planning a wedding.

Kelly Bandur knows this first-hand as she scoured Aeva Couture for "the one."

"She's looking through all of the dresses and she's like do you like this one, how about this one," says Bandur as she was looking through the racks of dresses with her grandmother.

But Bandur won't have to stress about the price tag on her gown as she's getting it for free!

"They're just so beautiful and I know how expensive wedding dresses are and the wedding itself is expensive. So it's just so wonderful that they do this for military brides," says Bandur.

Aeva Couture is joining forces with Brides Across America for "Operation Wedding Gown."

For 2 days the bridal shop is giving away up to 80 wedding dresses to military brides.

"We have good options for them so that they feel like they're getting a really special dress even though it's through a give-away," says Aeva Couture owner Ariel Arnson.

Arnson was inspired to participate in "Operation Wedding Gown" after her grandfather went on an honor flight.

"Just seeing the gratitude and the thanks that was bestowed on him as a WWII veteran and kind of realizing the lack of gratitude that's given to our military past and present," says Arnson.

Because of this special gift, military brides like Bandur can now look forward to their special day with one less thing to worry about.

"Operation Wedding Gown" is going on from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. on July 9th and 10th at Aeva Couture.
