Two dead, two wounded in shootings in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are investigating three shootings that happened early Saturday morning, October 12th. Two people are dead and two more were wounded in the gunfire.

The first shooting happened near 25th and Grant on the city's north side just before 2 a.m. A 30-year-old man was shot and killed by an unknown suspect.

"I just don't understand this," said the victim's girlfriend. "Someone knows something but they're not saying, he's loving kind caring good father, great father."

Although Milwaukee Police have not identified the victim, friends and family say the man killed is Joe Malicki.

"He helped people out with personal situations he never turned his back on nobody he did things for everybody you can think of," one family member said.

Many unknowns surround Malicki's last breaths, but family does tell Fox 6, earlier in the evening he was sitting on his front porch with friends. He got a phone call and walked to the alley. Moments later, shots were fired and Malicki was found shot to death in an empty lot.

"Everybody has their ups and downs and their little problems in life and they make their mistakes but the mistakes that he made wasn't nearly enough to be brutally murdered like that," said one family member.

"Whoever knows something please come forth please come tell," said his girlfriend.

Around 2:30 a.m., police were called to the neighborhood near 64th and Fond du Lac Ave. They found a 29-year-old man fatally shot. Officials say the victim became involved in an argument and fight with two people. One of the two people pulled a handgun and fired several times, striking the victim.

Lastly, police were called to the neighborhood near 40th and North Ave. just after 2:30 a.m. for a report of a double shooting. A 27-year-old man received a single gunshot wound to the chest -- he is expected to survive. A second man, age 30, was shot in the leg. Investigators say the victims had just left a nearby tavern and were standing on the sidewalk when they heard multiple gun shots and were struck.
