"The place to be!" 'Downtown Milwaukee' unveils new campaign to promote city

MILWAUKEE -- There's a catchy little song -- part of a new campaign by "Milwaukee Downtown" to promote downtown Milwaukee and all that it has to offer. It features music by The Latchkeys.

Here are the lyrics:

"Downtown Milwaukee, come on down.

Where there's no worries.

Downtown, it's the place to be.

Grab a beer, grab a bite, grab your family!

Downtown Milwaukee, good smiles, laugh and love and feelin' wild and free.

Downtown, do you hear me?

When you come downtown good times are guaranteed.

If you're not downtown then now's your opportunity!"

Beth Weirick with "Milwaukee Downtown" joined Studio A to talk about this new campaign.

Weirick is the CEO of "Milwaukee Downtown" and has led the organization since its inception in 1998.

Milwaukee Downtown is a business improvement district funded by commercial property assessments.

The organization is charged with making downtown Milwaukee a great place to live, work, play and visit.

Weirick oversees the organization`s core programs: Public Service Ambassadors, Clean Sweep Ambassadors, Graffiti Removal and a Landscape Crew, as well as Business Retention and Recruitment initiatives.

She also started the organization`s five primary events - Taste & Toast, Downtown Dining Week, Downtown Employee Appreciation Week, the Milwaukee Trolley Loop and Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival.

Throughout her tenure, she has overseen four branding campaigns for the organization -- all promoting downtown as a destination to area residents, including the most recent campaign "How Do You Downtown?"
