Storing snow in Russia for 2014 Winter Games

RUSSIA (WITI) -- The 2014 Winter Games may still be about 10 months away, but that isn't stopping Russian officials from getting ready.

In the Black Sea resort of Sochi, workers are busy storing snow.

Dozens of snow plows are roaming the slopes, pushing snow into enormous piles dozens of yards high.

Workers are also sucking up water from two artificial lakes, to aid the 200 snow-blowing machines churn out artificial snow. Once the snow is piled up, it's covered with an inch thick insulated blanket with reflective surfaces to keep it from melting.

Officials start storing the snow after a lack of wintery weather back in February caused two test events for the Games to be canceled.

The 2014 Winter Games will run from February 7th to the 23rd.
