State says unemployment down compared to last year

MADISON -- The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has reported 68 counties, 31 large municipalities and all 12 metro areas have experienced a drop in unemployment rates compared to February 2011.

The DWD is getting this new jobs data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. "We expect further improvement as the hiring season progresses," says DWD Secretary Reggie Newson, "We know from employer surveys, and our online job site that employers have jobs available."
