Social security set to increase in 2012

Edward Jones Financial Advisor Alison Gilman Aquino discusses the fact that social security benefits are scheduled to increase in 2012. This is good news for the 60 million people who depend on social security benefits, whether it be the 55 million seniors, or the 8 million people who collect supplemental security income for a disability. There will be a 3.6 percent increase in social security payments in 2012 due to a cost of living adjustment, and those who benefit from social security haven't seen an increase since 2008.
