"So excited!" Greendale H.S. Marching Band honored to perform at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

GREENDALE -- It's a huge honor for hundreds of families in Greendale. The high school's marching band will perform for an audience of millions during Thursday's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

You could call it practice but you better believe members of the Greendale High School Marching Band know their music frontwards and backwards.

"The last week or so the kids have been working real hard to get everything down to what they need," said tom Reifenberg, director of bands.

Maybe it isn't so much a practice as it is a "thank you."

For the unmeasurable support the music department has received.

"18 months ago, they found out about this and it has been a lot of fundraising, a lot of activities, a lot of team," said Reifenberg.

Tom Reifenberg is the director of bands -- leading 270 students onto the school's biggest stage ever: Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

"We leave at 3:00 tomorrow, and heading out to New York and doing some sightseeing and rehearsing Wednesday, and performing Thursday, in front of millions and millions of people," Reifenberg said.

On Saturday, November 19th, the band took a victory lap around the high school track.

"This has just been one of the best things for the city," said Annette St. Martin, former band mom.

A run-through showcasing what millions will see Thursday on network television.

"You can see by the crowd here today; I mean I'm just a random mom that doesn't even have a kid here and I am so excited for them," said Martin.

900 parents, friends and relatives are joining the bandwagon to New York City. Everyone else will be singing their praises from home.

"People in the crowd, let the band know you'll be watching," said Reifenberg.

The Greendale High School Marching Band will perform two pieces during the parade: Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling" and a Mary Poppins melody.
