Sheriff's officials respond to two Christmas Eve crashes on I-43

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24th responded to two unrelated crashes on I-43 near Port Washington Road.

The initial crash was the result of a driver suffering from a medical condition -- according to the Sheriff's Office.

It happened near I-43 and Port Washington Road just before 7:00 p.m.

Sheriff's officials say a deputy in his personal vehicle caught up to a male driver near Good Hope Road -- and called in the incident. Other deputies pursued the driver in until the driver crashed into the guardrail near Port Washington Road.

No one was injured -- but the incident did force a full closure of the freeway. Northbound I-43 traffic was diverted off the freeway at N. Port Washington Road.

Shortly after this crash, two more vehicles were involved in an unrelated crash on I-43 NB near Port Washington Road.

Sheriff's officials say this crash occurred in the left lanes of I-43.
