Riverside University High School students sleep outside for charity

MILWAUKEE -- As many as 90 Riverside University High School students are sleeping outside Thursday night, to raise money for Habitat for Humanity, and raise awareness about homelessness.

Students built boxes for temporary shelter Thursday night. At least one student told FOX6 News it is a good way to drive home a lesson.

"So many people don't realize how good they have it. They have a home, a roof and food to go home to at night, and there are so many people that we don't know that struggle on a daily basis. I'm sure there are kids here who go to a shelter after school," Kali Huettl said.

This is the 12th year for "Box City" at Riverside University High School. This year's event is expected to raise between $3,000 and $5,000. Total, it has raised $60,000 over 12 years.
