Recycle electronics with Habitat for Humanity

MILWAUKEE -- Habitat for Humanity is accepting old computers, TVs, and other electronics that you no longer need. Habitat of Humanity ReStores is dedicated to recycling electronic items, and will be accepting electronic donations during the holiday season and throughout the year.

The donations will be responsibly recycled, and all computer hard drives will be erased according to US Defense Department standards. The donations will help generate income for Habitat affiliates, which will help them provide decent, affordable housing for low-income families.

Sara Kierzek, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin says, "This is a great time to dispose of old computers, TVs, and other electronics that you no longer need...we know that there are a lot of people who will be getting new electronics for Christmas this year, so why not make recycling those old items a really easy New Year's resolution..."
Many electronic items can be re-purposed, even if the unit is out-of-date or not functional. Also, some electronic components can be harmful to the environment, this is why it is essential to keep them out of landfills.
