Racine police report: Intoxicated man displays gun outside school

RACINE, Wis. - Racine police arrested a man after reports he appeared intoxicated and displayed a firearm outside a middle school on Monday, Feb. 3.

What we know:
Officers responded to the neighborhood near Wisconsin Lutheran Middle School just after 1 p.m. on Monday for a report of a man with a gun. School staff reported that while students were out for recess, a man who appeared to be intoxicated displayed a firearm. A student spotted the man pointing the firearm in their direction while headed back into the school, officials said.
A news release says staff ushered the students inside the building and placed the school on lockdown. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect while checking the area.

Later, around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to another "man with gun" call in the area of 11th Street and Washington Avenue. The description of this man was consistent with the suspect's description provided at Wisconsin Lutheran. The man was located with a firearm in his possession and was arrested.
