Prayer service held for MU student who died in Rome

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A prayer service was held on Thursday, June 13th on the Marquette University campus to remember Andrew Keith Carr -- a MU student who passed away on June 10th while studying in Rome.

Carr was a junior studying operations and supply chain management in the College of Business Administration, who was frequently on the dean’s list for his academic performance. He was a recipient of the Ignatius and Magis scholarships, a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a participant on the university’s Quidditch team.

Though Carr's Greek brothers declined an on-camera interview, the fraternity released this statement and picture of Carr on Twitter:

Keith never stopped smiling. He was a light in our lives. Rest in peace, Brother Carr. Always will, always be AEKDB twitter.com/MUKappaSig/sta…

Marquette's Greek community is especially saddened by the loss of a fellow member. Maggie Bruckner, a Marquette student and member of Alpha Chi Omega, expressed her sorority's condolences to Carr's family, friends and fraternity.

"Greek life here at Marquette is really -- it's a close knit community and everything that one person, no matter what chapter they are in, it really affects the whole
community," Bruckner said.

Marquette officials say they are working with John Cabot University to provide support services and on-site counseling to Carr’s roommates and friends in Rome.

"Any time there's a student who dies it's a sadness to us and especially in such tragic and unexpected circumstances," said Stephanie Russell, the Vice President of Mission and Ministry at Marquette.

Counseling services and Campus Ministry support are also available on campus for all faculty, staff and students.

"These are the kinds of things that call us to the depths of our prayer when hear those kinds of accidents. They're sad and they don't make sense to us," Russell said.

Meanwhile, there has been an outpouring of support for Carr's family and friends on social media:
