Police investigate after woman assaulted on south side

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are searching for a male suspect that allegedly ran up behind a 29-year-old woman late Monday night, August 12th in the 2500 block of S. Howell Avenue and forcefully fondled her.

The suspect is described as a white male, 30-35 years old, 5'10" to 5'11" tall, 225 pounds. He was wearing a gray charcoal pullover with the hood up and carpenter-style blue jeans with a tool loop on the thigh.

According to officials, during the last 18 months there have been nine similar assaults in the general area, however, there has been an eight month gap between the last two occurrences.

Authorities say the most recent description differs from previous incidents, but investigators continue to follow all leads and are not discounting the possibility that this incident is connected to others.

"Our concern is that we're not sure that it is connected to those previous events, but we just want the public to be diligent.  Particularly those who live in the Bay View neighborhood," Milwaukee Police Captain James Shepard said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Milwaukee Police Department at 414-935-7405.
