Police: Five in custody after shots fired into home

TOWN OF MERTON (WITI) -- Waukesha police received a call for a shots fired complaint near Kilbourn Road and Frontier Road in the Town of Merton overnight Saturday, June 8th into Sunday morning.

Police say shots were fired into a home around 4:30 Saturday morning. A witness reported three individuals were running through his yard and had fired shots at his mailbox and home.

No one was injured, but there was damage to the property.

Police say a few traffic signs, a no hunting sign, mailboxes and at least one home were hit. Neighbors say most of the vandalism took place early Sunday morning, and a tactical situation followed.

One neighbor said the incident seemed to last for more than 10 minutes. Another felt like a prisoner in his own home.

"Basically, SWAT Team guns drawn. I don't need to be down there," Travis Fallon told FOX6 News.

Police were able to take five persons of interest into custody.

The incident remains under investigation, but officials describe the situation as teens with too much time on their hands, and too much testosterone.

"I chalked it up as, you know, kids screwing around. Hopefully they learn a lesson and it never happens to anybody else," Fallon said.
