Officials say Lake Ellen search is "recovery mission"

SHEBOYGAN CO. -- The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office dive team is in the water at Lake Ellen, in southwestern Sheboygan County near Cascade searching for a 28-year-old man from Plymouth who reportedly fell out of a boat. Crews called the search a "recovery mission" as of Sunday afternoon, and suspended the search Sunday evening -- to resume at 8:00 a.m. Monday.

The first call for help came around 1 a.m. Sunday, August 26th. The caller reported an individual that had previously been on a boat was in the water and had not been heard from for over 10 minutes.

Sheboygan County Sheriff's Lt. Chad Broeren said four people were on the boat -- two men and two women -- all of them cousins.

Sheboygan County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched along with the Sheboygan City / County Dive Team and their support units.  Also assisting are: Cascade First Responders, Plymouth Ambulance and the Cascade and Waldo Fire Departments.

Officials have not yet released the man's name. They say search efforts continued through 5:30 Sunday evening, before being suspended. Search efforts will pick up again Monday morning.

Officials say the search is now a "recovery mission." Officials have confirmed to FOX6 News that alcohol was involved in this incident.

Terry Miller has lived yards away from the lake for more than seven years, and said she's never seen anything like this.

"This is really a first. God bless all of those workers," Miller said.
