No charges will be filed against parents of young children caught driving a vehicle twice

WASHINGTON COUNTY (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned no charges will be filed against the parents of two children who were caught in a vehicle twice this year.

In June, officials say the boys -- then ages nine and four, took a vehicle from a parking lot and started driving to their grandmother's house. Two other drivers noticed the children in the vehicle and stopped it.

A month later, it happened again. This time, officials say the boys took a relative's vehicle -- and a deputy was able to intercept the nine-year-old driver after being spotted driving the wrong way.

Details of a court order handed down on Tuesday, November 11th in juvenile court weren't revealed, but the Washington County District Attorney tells FOX6 News they hold the older boy and both sets of parents accountable for what happened, while working to protect the children and the public.

The Department of Health and Human Services will be supervising the families.
