MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Hundreds of dancers and two dozen drum groups filled Potawatomi Bingo Casino's expo center over the weekend during the venue's annual Hunting Moon Pow Wow.
Sunday, October 20th marks the last day for the 9th annual event. Visitors took in the sights and sounds of various Native American tribes including the Grand Entry, featuring 500 dancers in full regalia.
"I get this lump in my throat and my heart's pounding and I feel a lot of joy," said Kymme Goodrich, Cultural Education and Outreach Specialist at Potawatomi. "It's more of a social event, bringing families together and just having a great time."
Goodrich says representatives of several tribes also aim to share different aspects of their cultures with the people of southeastern Wisconsin.
"Makes me feel proud -- proud to share my culture and to share my knowledge with everybody, you know? It's a great thing," said Potawatomi Bingo Casino Chef Aaron Pyawasay.
Dancers and drum groups from around the United States and Canada compete during the Hunting Moon Pow Wow for more than $95,000.
