Moderate to heavy snow makes roads slick, slows traffic

MILWAUKEE CO. (WITI) -- The latest snow storm to batter southeast Wisconsin is really wearing people down. They're tired of clearing the snow -- and driving in it.

Around town, large plow trucks are whipping through parking lots. They're clearing those lots -- but creating ever-growing mounds of snow. The drivers do this because business doesn't stop because of snow -- and neither do people.

Throughout southeast Wisconsin, the main streets are getting plowed and salted. Even so, it was slow-going on Monday. The side streets were even harder to navigate.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office says between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, deputies dealt with 28 crashes and 35 disabled vehicles.

The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works indicated it would have 125 salters on the road Monday afternoon. Snow plow blades are also being added to more trucks to help clear the streets.
