Madison Windsor condo building explosion, 4 hurt
MADISON, Wis. - Four people were injured in an apparent explosion at a Madison condominium building Tuesday evening, the city’s fire chief said.
One person was taken to an area hospital by ambulance, and three other people transported themselves for treatment of minor injuries, Madison Fire Chief Chris Carbon said.
A neighboring eight-unit building also suffered damage Tuesday evening as a result of the explosion, and occupants from that building were also displaced. A total of at least 21 occupants were displaced from both buildings.
There are no reports of any missing people, but firefighters were searching the rubble to make sure no one else was inside, Carbon said.
During the response, firefighters rescued three pets, none of which appeared to be injured. A fourth pet, a cat, had been missing but was located, unharmed, around 11:00 p.m.
The building is no longer habitable, Carbon said.
