SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- A Sheboygan County judge sentenced Kevin Matichek to 10 years in prison and another 10 years of extended supervision on Monday, February 29th.
Matichek is the former Sheboygan alderman who reached a plea deal back in December on sexual assault charges.
Matichek pleaded no contest to two counts of second degree sexual assault of a child in December 2015.
Matichek was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy in 2014.
He was also charged with child sexual assault in Ozaukee County, from incidents around 2002 and 2003. That case was consolidated into the Sheboygan case.
In that case, Matichek was charged with one count of second degree sexual assault of a child, and repeated sexual assault of the same child.
Additionally, in December 2015, Matichek pleaded no contest to a charge of public official accepting a bribe in a separate case -- and he was sentenced to serve two years in prison and one year extended supervision -- concurrent with his sentence handed down on February 29th for the sexual assault charges out of Sheboygan County.
Matichek said he accepted the plea deal in December so that the victims and their families wouldn't be further traumatized by the court proceedings.
"We cannot undo the past, and cannot undo the harm that he has caused -- but hopefully in the future when given the opportunity to be mindful of his responsibilities to his community and families -- and hopefully to himself, he will be someone that contributes to the community and not someone who takes advantage of the community," Judge Edward Stengel said.
Matichek is facing charges out of Outagamie County, including child enticement -- sexual contact and two counts of second degree sexual assault of a child.
Matichek has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 7th in that case.
