Kenosha Bradford High School swatting incident; no security threat found

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Kenosha Police Department on Tuesday, Feb. 4 responded to Bradford High School for what they determined to be a "swatting" hoax.

What we know:
According to the Kenosha Unified School District, around 10:30 a.m. the district was notified of a call stating shots were fired at Bradford High School.

Following a sweep of the building, the Kenosha Police Department confirmed that no security threats were found. Kenosha police have determined the incident to be a swatting or hoax incident and will continue investigating the source of the call.

"We are impressed by our student’s cooperation and adherence to safety protocols during the situation," said KUSD Superintendent Dr. Jeff Weiss. "Their patience and conduct were essential to law enforcement and school staff ensuring the building is safe and secure."
"The Kenosha Police Department would like to inform our community that the recent report of shots being fired inside Bradford High School has been thoroughly investigated and confirmed to be a "swatting" hoax. There was never a credible threat to students, staff, or the public," said the Kenosha Police Department.

What's next:
Students and staff have resumed business as usual, and all after-school events will take place as planned.
Additionally, counselors are available at Bradford High School for any students who may need support following the incident.
