Hundreds of Santa-clad cyclists participate in Santa Rampage

MILWAUKEE -- On Saturday, December 17th, the streets of Milwaukee ran red with cyclists in Santa suits. It's all part of the annual Santa Cycle Rampage - where bicyclists dress up as the man in red, and take on a part pub crawl, part cycling celebration through Milwaukee's east side.

No official organization lays claim on this event, which started at 9:00 a.m. on the 17th. Cyclists met at one of four local starting points, including Fuel Cafe in Riverwest, Cafe Hollander in Tosa Village, Cafe Hollander on Milwaukee's east side, and Cafe Centraal in Bay View.

Then, the Santa-suit clad cyclists made stops at the Lakefront Brewery, Rehorst, Kochanski's Concertina Bar, Cafe Centraal and concluded with a post-ride after party with food and drink specials.

There's no word on exactly how many Chris Cringle's cycled the streets of Milwaukee, or exactly when this event first started. Some businesses involved in the event say they saw a 20 to 25 percent spike in sales on Saturday.
