Green Bay district employee accused of stealing student meds

GREEN BAY — An employee of the Green Bay school district is accused of stealing medications intended for students.

Since late February, the district has been receiving complaints of missing medications at eight elementary schools. The district did an audit that found discrepancies between the pills provided by parents for their children in March and April and the number in storage.

WLUK-TV reports the 25-year-old district employee works in facilities and related services. He appeared in court Thursday but has not been formally charged.

The Brown County District Attorney's office says hidden cameras were set up at several schools when the district noticed medication was missing. Prosecutors say video at one school showed the suspect taking 17 pills.

Investigators don't know how much medication was taken or how many students were affected.
