Good, bad news for retailers on holiday shopping numbers

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- We're getting some good and bad news for retailers as numbers come out on holiday shopping.

The International Council of Shopping Centers reported that retail sales in the week ending December 28th rose three percent over the same period last year, and one percent over the previous week.

However -- it came at a price.

Those gains came at the cost of deep discounts and long hours.

Stores extended hours and discounted items by as much as 75 percent in order to lure shoppers.
