Multiple fire departments responded to an apartment fire in Glendale on Monday afternoon, June 1.

What we know:

According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, it was called to help North Shore Fire with a fire at Parkside at Estabrook Apartments near Hampton and Lydell, which sits on the Glendale-Milwaukee border.

Arriving crews reported a significant fire spanning the exterior balconies of floors two through four, with extension into the attic.

The incident was upgraded to a third alarm due to its size and complexity, with about 70 firefighters responding.

A fire caused significant damage to a house in Milwaukee on Monday, June 1.

The Red Cross was on scene providing assistance to occupants of eight apartment units that were displaced due to the fire.

A preliminary investigation suggests the fire began on a third-floor apartment balcony, though the exact cause remains undetermined. Investigators do not believe the fire is suspicious.

A firefighter sustained a minor injury and an occupant was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. Neither required transport to the hospital.
