'Friends' reunion? Not happening, co-creator says

(CNN) -- The cast of "Friends" will be there for you, but only in syndication.

Marta Kauffman, who co-created the comedy in 1994 with David Crane, has shot down the hopeful rumors that a "Friends" reunion special was in the works.

The Internet's been on fire lately with gossip that there was a "Friends" special being planned for Thanksgiving 2014, and maybe even a new season from NBC or a movie.

When E! News caught up with Kauffman at Tuesday night's premiere of "Call Me Crazy," which "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston executive produced, Kauffman gave them quite the emphatic response.

"I was just with the woman who is the costume designer for , and we were sitting at a bar, having a drink and some shrimp, and this whole group of people comes in and they're all abuzz because they heard that 'Friends' is coming back for another season," Kauffman said. "I'm going to clear this up right now: No. Not. Happening."

NBC, which aired the '90s classic for 10 seasons until its end in 2004, has denied the reports as well.

"'Friends' was about that time in your life when your friends are your family," Kauffman said. "And once you have a family, there's no need anymore."

So, really, Kauffman, no reunion? "No."
