Faulty underground cable causes power outage on East Side

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Brian Manthey with We Energies says a faulty underground cable is to blame for a power outage that occurred Tuesday evening, July 16th.

Manthey said nearly 2,000 people were without power. Power was restored around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Manthey said the boundaries of the outage are E. Chambers to the north, E. Ogden to the south, N. Buffum to the west and N. Cambridge to the east.

Crews were working to re-route the power from the cable so that they could restore power.

Manthey said so far, there is no indication the cable failed due to the heat or anything weather-related.
