Milwaukee police are investigating after 40-year-old Tremayne Montgomery was shot and killed near Fond du Lac and Armitage just before midnight Saturday night.

What we know:
A Milwaukee family is grieving on Easter after a 40-year-old man was shot and killed late Saturday night, April 4.
Milwaukee police responded just before midnight to the area of Fond du Lac Avenue and Armitage Avenue for a reported shooting. A 40-year-old man died at the scene.
Family members identified the victim as Tremayne Montgomery, known to friends and loved ones as Trell. Loved ones say he was a father and grandfather.

Montgomery’s mother, who declined an on-camera interview, told FOX6 by phone her son had been at a bar when a confrontation escalated.
A GoFundMe created in Montgomery’s name states the person involved in the confrontation followed him outside and shot him multiple times.
Police have not released details about what led up to the shooting or identified any suspects.
Montgomery’s family says they are hoping for an arrest as they make funeral arrangements and grieve their loss on Easter Sunday.
