DOT considering plan to remove Dakota Street Bridge

WEST ALLIS -- There are concerns over a pedestrian bridge in West Allis.

A plan being considered by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation includes the possibility of removing the Dakota Street Bridge.

That bridge is used by students at General Mitchell Elementary School and Frank Lloyd Wright Intermediate School, who live on opposite sides of I-894.

The plans were discussed at a meeting Tuesday night. There are options that would replace the bridge.

Construction is scheduled for next year.
