Demet gets $3,961 fine for writing signatures on recall petition

RACINE — 59-year-old Mark Demet, the man accused of falsely writing in signatures on a petition to recall State Senator Van Wanggaard, was ordered to pay a $3,961 fine Friday, June 28th. Demet could receive up to 120 days in jail if the fine is not paid.

Demet was charged with nine felony, including election fraud.

Police say Demet admitted circulating the petition and signing the names of seven people on it. One was the name of his neighbor, and some were names of Demet’s family members.
