Critical time for campaigning: A push to get people to the polls

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It is the final stretch. Election day is just 3 days away. Republican ans democrats say the time is critical for campaigning.

Two different parties, with different ideologies.

"Elections are won and lost in these last four days," said State Representative, Mandela Barnes.

Each pushing for their candidate.

"So many concerns going on in this state, so many reasons people have come out to support Mary Burke," said Barnes.

"They're excited about Scott Walker. They're excited about the story to tell and it's not hard to go out there and tell people all the great things he's done," said GOP, Chris Martin.

This weekend, both democrats and republicans are in agreement.

"When we talk to people we are letting them know how important it is to come out to vote," said Barnes.

"Talking to voters by phone, talking to voters by door," said Martin.

Inside both party offices, a final push to encourage voters to head to the polls.

"We're just trying to get our base, ready to get out and vote," said GOP volunteer, Kathy Broghammer.

Thousands of volunteers across the state are going door-to-door -- and picking up the phones making contact with voters before Tuesday.

"The conversation must continue, the conversations will continue, the more people we talk to, the more likely it is that we will win this race," said Barnes.

Each party hopeful, their final push will mean a victory.

"We all have such a positive feeling, we all have a good vibe in here," said Broghammer.

The momentum will continue through election day. Volunteers will continue to make the calls and knock on doors, doing everything they can before Tuesday.
