Cedarburg bank ATM robbery; new video shows suspect's arrest

A Cedarburg bank ATM robbery last month led to a police chase, crash and arrest – in Illinois. Now, new video shows police in Highland Park taking down a suspect in the heist.

The backstory:

Cedarburg police responded to Port Washington State Bank on Tuesday afternoon, May 20. Police said the ATM was being serviced when two suspects approached and stole a bag of money with about $85,000 inside. They then fled the scene.

New video shows the arrest of one of those robbery suspects hours later. Police in Lake Forest and Highland Park, Illinois spotted the wanted vehicle.

Officers wove through traffic as they pursued that vehicle. Highland Park police said the car crashed, and four people got out and ran. Several bystanders described people running with a suitcase.

Forty-five minutes later, police found one of the suspects in a wooded area. Highland Park police identified that suspect as 32-year-old Javon Schoffield. Video showed an officer remove a stack of cash from his pocket.

What's next:

Cedarburg police said Schoffield is going through the federal indictment process. The other three suspects have not been arrested.
