Body of missing Greendale man found lying in the snow

GREENDALE (WITI) -- The body 63-year-old Dennis Maciejewski was found on Wednesday afternoon, March 19th in a remote park area of Greendale.

A citizen who lives in the area was out helping search for Maciejewski when he located the body lying in the snow behind Conifer Ln., several blocks from Crocus Ct. He notified police.

A preliminary investigation shows Maciejewski was wearing the same clothes he was wearing when he was last seen -- and appeared to have walked to the park. There is no evidence of foul play.

Maciejewski was at the hospital on Monday night, March 17th for testing after a fall and head injury. He was dropped off at his home in the 6800 block of Crocus Ct. around 7:30 p.m.

Police said there was a possible sighting of Maciejewski Monday around 9:30 p.m. at the Panther Pub.

"I was like 80 to 85 percent sure it was him. I don’t know. It’s real fuzzy, the picture. And he has a tan coat on and that’s something we didn’t recognize at all," said Darlene Kirchner, Maciejewski's sister.

Surveillance video showed a man drinking a beer -- something Kirchner said her brother never did. But she wonders if the fall and bump he suffered on Sunday could have caused strange behavior.

"But the doctor said he was fine. They took a CAT scan, brain scan. He was fine," said Kirchner.

Greendale police thank all of those who assisted in the search for Maciejewski.
