ALDI hosts a job fair in metro Milwaukee

WAUWATOSA (WITI) -- Getting your foot in the door is the hardest part of starting a career.

That's why student Jason Covele took advantage of a job fair held by ALDI.

"Obviously I'm hoping to get the job to get more work experience. I hope to be a business owner one day so hopefully this will play a good part," says Covele.

The grocery chain held the event to look for full or part-time Cashiers, along with Shift Managers and Trainee Managers.

These positions pay between $10 - $22 per hour.

"We are actually doing a screening of maybe up to 500 applicants in the Milwaukee area. We have about 25 stores and we're looking to see as many potential applicants we can find and hire the best," says ALDI District Manager Patrick McGill.

Those who attended were asked to fill out an application and they got the opportunity to meet with a District Manager.

From there, if ALDI is interested the applicants will get a call back for a follow-up interview.

"I think it went great. I think I'm going to have an interview," says Cedranisha Smith as she left the job fair.

"I'm hoping for the managerial position because I do have a college degree so I'm just trying to use it a little bit more," says job applicant Sparkle Lee.

ALDI officials say they don't have a specific number of positions they're looking to fill, they're just always trying to meet with qualified candidates.

"We're looking for people who are high energy, that can multitask, that are very friendly and can work well in a team environment," says McGill.

Providing helping hands in stores, while giving many people new opportunities.

This job fair is open until 6 p.m. on Monday, September 9th at the Radisson Hotel in Wauwatosa.

If you're unable to make it to this job fair, ALDI is holding another job fair on Friday, September 27th from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza in Oak Creek.
