A high-tech arrest: Police find stolen phone, arrest suspect with the help of an iPhone app

MILWAUKEE (WITI) --  Milwaukee police were able to nab the suspect responsible for a strong armed robbery with the help of the "Find My iPhone" app.

According to officials, officers responded to the are of E. Park Place and Murray Avenue just after 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3rd for reports of a stolen phone. Upon arrival, they met with the victim, a 22-year-old woman from Milwaukee.

The victim told police a suspect approached her, shoved her and stole her phone before fleeing in a vehicle.The victim, using her GPS app, told officers the phone was in the area of N. 79th Street and W. Glendale Avenue.

Officers responded to that area and found a car that matched the description of the vehicle used in the armed robbery. The driver of the car also matched the description of the suspect.The stolen cell phone was found in the car and the driver was taken into custody.

The suspect is a 17-year-old Milwaukee male who will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
