63-year-old man in custody following tactical situation

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police responded to a tactical situation Saturday night, during which they say a 63-year-old man barricaded himself in the basement of a home in the 1600 block of N. 24th Street and refused to come out.

Police say the man threatened to harm others, so the Tactical Enforcement Unit and Crisis Negotiation Team responded and attempted to convince the man to surrender.

After negotiations did not resolve the situation, the Tactical Enforcement Unit made entry to the basement and was able to take the man into custody.

The man sustained very minor injuries while being taken into custody due to broken glass that was in the basement.  He was treated and released from the hospital and charges are pending.
