$200,000 grant from Southwest Airlines to help transform public land near 4th & Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A public piece of land in downtown Milwaukee is about to undergo some significant changes.
It's land near 4th and Wisconsin, and the goal is to create a public place where people can come and hang out.
On Wednesday, April 22nd, Southwest Airlines offered a $200,000 "Heart of the Community" grant towards the effort.
So what are some things folks can expect in the space?
"Behind me there are some potted plants and movable planters. In that space there are some tables and chairs, maybe some covered umbrellas. There's also free Wi-Fi, a coffee cart and some local bakery items for sale," Maggie Kuhn Jacobus, CEO of the Creative Alliance Milwaukee said.
Construction on the new space will start as soon as May.
Milwaukee is one of six cities to be given such a grant from Southwest Airlines.
