10-year-old girl offers piggy bank money for safe return of stolen dog

SAN JOSE, California -- A 10-year-old girl is offering money from her own piggy bank to help get her puppy back.

Meeko, a five-month-old Shih Tzu-Yorkie mix, was stolen from the girl's home in San Jose, California, Monday, October 1st. The thieves also took thousands of dollars in electronics.

However, it's the dog the family is most concerned about.

"That's what is just so messed up about this -- when they go making their quick buck, they don't realize how much emotions are tied to this. This is just not a dog. It's not money. It's my daughter's heart," the girl's mother, Marie Mabanag said.

"Can you try to turn him in to me? It would mean the world to me if you turn him in," 10-year-old Marissa Mabanag said.

A city council member, police and fire unions are offering a total of $6,000 in reward money for Meeko's safe return.
