Transit union leaders say contract negotiations will resume with MCTS officials on July 30th

MILWAUKEE -- In a statement issued to FOX6 News, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 998 leaders say they'll meet with Milwaukee County Transit officials on July 30th -- as contract negotiations pick back up.Roughly 750 MCTS bus drivers walked off the job at 3 a.m. on July 1st and began picketing at the Milwaukee County Transit System garages after contract negotiations between union leaders and transit officials broke down.The strike lasted until 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 4th.On Wednesday, July 15th, Local 998 President James Macon addressed rumors that another strike was in the works."There's a lot of rumors out there that we are planning on going on another job stoppage again.

All lanes now clear on I-94 SB near Highway KR in Racine after traffic stop led to closure

RACINE COUNTY -- A traffic alert on Tuesday evening, July 14th -- Officials with the Racine County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on two vehicles on I-94 -- just south of Highway KR.We're told these vehicles that were stopped may have been involved in some sort of crime in the Milwaukee area.ALL lanes of southbound I-94 at KR were closed initially -- but all lanes have reopened.We're told there were some people taken into custody -- but it's unclear how many at this point.Monitor FOX6 News and FOX6Now.com for updates on this developing story.

Ramp from I-894 to I-94EB in Zoo Interchange closed until Sunday morning

MILWAUKEE -- A heads up for drivers: The northbound ramp from I-894 to I-94 eastbound will be closed through early Sunday morning, July 12th."We need to build a temporary roadway and we also need to do a lot of underground work in that area.

Public Art Committee dedicates "Slalom," new kinetic sculpture on display at airport's baggage claim

MILWAUKEE -- Members of the Milwaukee County Public Art Committee have dedicated a new public art display being installed as part of General Mitchell International Airport’s Baggage Claim Renovation Project.Tim Prentice, the Kinetic Sculptor selected by the Public Art Committee, has completed similar projects around the world and installed his “Slalom” display at Mitchell Airport this week.“This is a unique opportunity to play with light and achieve an ever-changing sequence of varied and unpredictable effects,” Prentice said.  “Movement and changing light will draw the viewer’s attention to the work on display in this beautiful building.”

MCTS now reimbursing passengers with passes in wake of bus drivers strike

Chris Abele: All Milwaukee County buses will be free on Monday, July 6th

Short-term closure: Hale Interchange ramp to WIS 100 to close Monday, July 6th

MILWAUKEE -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is scheduled to close the I-43 south exit ramp to WIS 100/US 45, beginning at 5:00 a.m.  Monday, July 6th.

DOT scheduled to start work on bridge on Capitol Drive in Pewaukee

PEWAUKEE -- Beginning Monday, July 6th, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is scheduled to start work on a bridge rehabilitation project on WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) in the city of Pewaukee, Waukesha County.The project limits run from Five Fields Road to Springdale Road, a distance of just under three miles.Scheduled to begin the week of July 13th, traffic will be down to one lane in each direction.
