GREEN BAY -- It was offense vs. defense Sunday, June 12th in Green Bay -- for the annual Jordy Nelson Charity Softball game!
The game, which benefits "Young Life," an organization for middle, high school and college students that pairs them with adults focused on fun, adventure and friendship, brings out the competitiveness of the Packers players who push themselves and each other on a regular basis.
One thing that happened Sunday that the guys will be talking about for awhile -- Packers QB Aaron Rodgers homering off of Clay Matthews!
According to Packers.com, the defense technically won last year (29-19), but that was only after the two sides swapped scores after four innings when the offense got out to a big lead.
This year -- it was the offense for the win -- final score 30-28 according to the Packers.
Jordy Nelson last week during practice talked about how excited he was for this year's game -- Nelson's third year leading the charity softball game after taking over the event from former Packers receiver Donald Driver, who ran it from 2008-20113.
“We look forward to it. It’s a fun time. Fun to be in front of the fans doing things that we don’t normally do. Get some guys out of their element. Everyone has a good time. It’s been a great tradition to have here for quite a few years now," Nelson said.
Nelson was able to take part in the game as he continues to recover from the torn ACL he sustained last August in Pittsburgh.
Below is the roster for Sunday's event, according to Packers.com:
