MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has been selected as a starter for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game.

According to a press release from the Bucks, this is Antetokounmpo’s ninth consecutive All-Star Game selection and start.

What we know:

In his 12th NBA season, Antetokounmpo is averaging a career-high 31.5 points (2nd in NBA), 12.0 rebounds (5th in NBA) and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 60.5% from the field (9th in NBA). 

By averaging 31.5 points on 60.5% shooting, Antetokounmpo is on pace to tally the second season in NBA history with 30+ points on at least 60% shooting after he became the first player in league history to reach those figures in a season in 2023-24.

The two-time MVP opened the season with 27 straight games scoring 20+ points on at least 50% shooting from Oct. 23-Jan. 4, passing Shaquille O’Neal and Zion Williamson (25 games) for the longest such streak in NBA history on Jan. 2. One of the league’s leading scorers this season, Antetokounmpo had the second-best scoring performance of his career and second-best in the NBA this season on Nov. 13 vs. Detroit with 59 points on 61.8% shooting (21-34). 

Antetokounmpo has also tallied a double-double in each of his last 13 games, marking the third-longest active streak in the NBA this season and the third-longest of his career.

Joining Antetokounmpo as starters for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game are Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers), Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks), Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics) and Karl-Anthony Towns (New York Knicks) from the Eastern Conference and Nikola Jokić (Denver Nuggets), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder), Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers) and Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns) from the Western Conference.

The starters for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game were selected by fan, player and media voting, with fans accounting for 50% of the vote while all current players and a media panel accounted for 25% each.

The 74th NBA All-Star Game will feature a new tournament-style format with players divided into four teams.

It tips off on Sunday, Feb. 16, from San Francisco.
