MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Zoo is working on a plan for some future changes that will impact both the animals and the visitors.

The elephants at the Milwaukee County Zoo may be getting some new digs!

A big fundraising campaign that could start next year, would likely focus on the need to expand the elephants' living space.

Expanding or building a new elephant exhibit would cost between $15 million and $30 million.

The zoo will also probably need a new parking structure to replace 600 spaces that will be lose when the Zoo Interchange Freeway is rebuilt over the next several years.

The parking structure could be built on top of the existing parking lots on the east side of the property, or incorporated with the new entrance that would be built at the corner of Bluemound Road and Mayfair Road.
