Viral Video: High school teacher, students create incredible ‘Uptown Funk’ video

DALLAS, TX (WITI) -- A video of a hip-shaking teacher in Dallas is going viral.

Scot Pankey, a theater director at A. Maceo Smith New Tech High School, had the creative idea to make a video for their first project of the new year. In the video, the teacher and his students are seen dancing around the school to  Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk.”

“We are a project-based school — there are only two in the Metroplex — and that means you give the students a project, put them in teams, and they have to come up with solutions. They had three weeks to work on it, then present as a group what they learned,” Pankey told the Dallas Morning News.

The video was shot by his students and completed in a single take.

“This is a great example of how a bunch of technology students let go of their fears, trusted their teacher and got down to Uptown Funk!!!” the YouTube description states.
