NEWBURG (WITI) -- A Village of Newburg home on Enge Dr. was heavily damaged by fire early Monday, October 28th.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office was first notified of the house fire shortly after 6 a.m. Monday. The home is a side-by-side duplex. The families inside the building were able to get to safety.
One of the units was rented by a family of two adults and three children. That family is being helped by the Red Cross on temporary housing and clothing needs. The second unit was rented by a family of three adults -- they have not requested assistance.
The Newburg Fire Department was assisted by firefighters from Fillmore, West Bend, Jackson, Cedarburg, Port Washington, Grafton, Fredonia, and Waubeka.
Fire and Sheriff Department investigators say they do not know the cause of the fire at this point in their investigation.
