Veterans get special access to job opportunities in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- The 8th annual Veterans-Only Job Fair was held in Milwaukee on Friday, October 5th. It's a way of thanking veterans for their service.

The job fair was held at Milwaukee's Zablocki V.A. Medical Center.

Charles Newsome, an Army veteran, says he's never been to a job fair like this.

"They're designed for veterans only, and the employer, there, is looking to hire them, so there is, immediately, a bond there -- a relational bond, whether or not they get the job," said Newsome.

Peggy Lang is a recruiter with Transport National. She's one of the more than 50 employers represented at the fair.

"I really enjoy this, this job fair, because I can see the people are really here -- looking for jobs -- not just walking around to see what you have. So, that's what we're looking for, is hard-working people," said Lang.

Turnout was considered low at Friday's job fair. Another Veterans-Only Job Fair is scheduled for March 7, 2013 at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center.
